JAY KILLMAN & the CONSTELLATIONS QUARTET

February 3 @ 7:30 pm

$10 – $25

Jay Killman’s eclectic roots have led him to play with a variety of acts and genres from jazz groups to folk duos to hip hop bands and much more. Jay has always been an avid composer and arranger and highlights consist of arranging 2 Charles Mingus tunes featured at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater in 2023, recording an arrangement of Corcovado on NCCU’s Big Band album, and arranging a Brother Yusuf song in big band format that featured saxophone legend Gary Bartz.  Jay Killman has studied with numerous greats including Keith Ganz, Andrew Renfroe, Steve Coleman, Joey Calderazzo, Brian Horton, Robert Trowers and more. He holds a BA in Music from UNCW and a MM in Jazz Composition from NCCU.

Jay Killman & the Constellations Quartet perform mostly original compositions, with some arranged standards.  These songs have roots in jazz, R&B, blues, and folk music and are blended intrinsically for a truly unique sound. The band has been playing together for 4 years.
